We would love for you to join us in serving the people of Broome and Tioga Counties
The centerpiece of the League’s efforts to expand participation in government and give a voice to all Americans. We do this at all three levels of government, engaging in both broad educational efforts as well as advocacy. Our issues are grounded in our respected history of making democracy work for all Americans.
The LWVBTC participates in community events and visits all venues that invite us to conduct voter registration. Those venues include but are not limited to the YWCA, local high schools, Southern Tier Independence Center, Porch Fest, CARES Backpack day, the Broome County Jail and Broome County Naturalization Ceremonies.
The LWVBTC is dedicated to educating voters on local, state and national issues. Additionally, we share information via our VOTE411 service on candidates running for office. We offer workshops and presentations on topics of interest such as the Electoral College, Ranked Choice Voting, Primaries and Caucuses and Why Vote.
The LWVBTC hosts candidate forums, providing voters an opportunity to meet their candidates for public office, listen to the candidates views and ask questions of them. An excerpt of a candidate forum can be found here.
We invite speakers to meet with our League to educate us on the issues of the day.
The LWVBTC conducts voter registration at all Naturalization Ceremonies held in Broome County. We provide new citizens with information to make their first voting experience go smoothly.
